Why is art important in your life?

It’s a pleasant Saturday evening. You head to your neighbourhood cafe to have your favourite pasta but hardly find any dining spots.
While you are looking for one, you find people doing the usual. Some working on their laptop, busy on a call, and some having a chat over food.
And, you also find a young man out there painting on a huge canvas.
Now, where are your eyes being hooked? What is it in that cafe that sparks some sort of curiosity? What catches your eye? Is it everything in the cafe or that act of painting?
You see, art can intrigue any person on the planet. If not in all forms, every human finds art in one or the other form. You cannot avoid it. You cannot escape it. Because art is a symbol of living.
Think of it!
You might love playing the guitar. Your mother could be a fan of making handicrafts. You might want to sing in the bathroom. Your hobby could be playing your favourite sport. You might be fond of painting like that man in the cafe or find joy in writing like me.
Each one of you has that one or many natural inclinations towards art. While some pursue it as their profession or make adjustments to stay close to it, some of you don’t make even the slightest effort to keep your heart cheerful.
Let me tell you why this discussion is important.
You must understand that art is a way of expression, a pathway to emotion, a mindful exercise to retain the creative spark and a beautiful road to keep you alive.
It is the only thing, since the dawn of human time, that has ever kept a man creative. No matter what work you do on your excel sheets and work desks, nothing carries life in it, the way art does.
Well, there are certain jobs that are creative and carry the features of art. For example, business could be considered an art. However, any businessman will admit that it does not carry pure art in its entirety like the way an act of dance carries.
Great if you can recognise art in some of the things that others usually don’t. It’s amazing. Then try to engage yourself with it. If you cannot do it every day, keep it at least once a week.
Whatever your inclination may be, do not let go of that energy. It is precious. It is revitalizing. It makes your time worth spending on it.
Well, you might be alright without dedicating time to some art in your week. Most of you are, and in fact, anyone can. But I want to ask you:
When was the last time you had that artistic energy in you?
How did your soul feel when you touched some art often in your week?
Do you feel that ‘escape from reality’ or ‘sense of refreshment’ anymore?
Probably not.
I used to train football five days a week. That sport not only pushed me into a magic zone but also helped me discover myself. It is the power of any art, and because of reduced frequency, I no more feel the same power.
So with this, I want to urge you to get back to whatever your artistic calling is. It could be any pure art or anything you find artistic for that matter. Ensure that you are saving some clock for your creative inner. For your natural inclination. For your craving of enjoying while sweating.
I'm sure you will love it, just like that man painting in your neighbourhood cafe. Well, he doesn’t get paid to paint there but he still does it.
That is what art can do.
